Mark Carter is a cowboy-snowboarder half-breed, a man’s man. Carter approaches snowboarding with the same reckless but calculated gusto that is necessary when wrangling a herd of hundreds of cattle – a task that he’s burdened with on his family’s Wyoming ranch every fall before snowboard season kicks into gear.
Each Christmas, some of Midwest snowboarding’s OGs gather at Trollhaugen to throw methods, share laughs, and show the next generation of shred how the stoke was stoked long before terrain parks transformed the game. In this episode of ‘Human on Board’ we catch up with the old dudes who took Troll for the day, and follow it with high-speed steel work from some of Troll’s regulars in the Valhalla park.

It feels great to get out an ride with friends, especially at a resort like Buck Hill! One thing we noticed right away about riding Buck’s park was the quarterpipes on the sides of all the jumps, and then we noticed how the have their own gravity – everyone is drawn toward them.
If you’re drawn towards riding like the crew you’ll want to check out all the Burton Snowboards we have in stock HERE.
The House team and friends have always been huge fans of Trollhaugen, and this is cutting room floor footage from one of the resort shoots that we had last season – it’s always great finding lost footage. We’ll be back for more this season. Enjoy.
I see a lot of park edits. I literally watch hundreds throughout the season and after time I get numb from boredom. Every so often an edit like Tony Wagner’s drops and it grabs my full attention; the song, length, tricks, and cinematography are perfect. Tony Wagner you’re the man and we’re amped to see what you do this season.
