2012 – USSA Revolution Tour Women’s Slopestyle Champion – Karly Shorr
Woman’s Freestyle Snowboarder has a very successful 2012 season!

USSA Revolution tour Final Stop! Karly Piper Shorr throws down with her last attempt to take the tour and is crowned the overall Revolution Tour champion 2012! She landed her qualifying runs with room for improvement- Karly Piper qualified in 2nd place as she moved into the Woman’s Slopestyle Finals. Her finals run was as follows: Rail feature 1: Front 180 on to switch back 180 out. Board slide pretzel 270 out. Switch back 180 to back 360 Japan to Front side 360. Shorr stomped her finals run with style and grace awarding her the win for the Mt. Snow Revolution Tour event and the overall title of the 2012 Revolution Tour Woman’s Slopestyle Champion!
Other podiums in the 2012 Revolution Tour earlier this season:
· 2nd place in a battle that went down to the final run against the recently named US National Team rider Ty Walker
· 4th at the North Star Rev. Tour stop in January
Shorr recently won 3rd place at the US Grand Prix Slopestyle. The Sprint U.S. Grand Prix started 16 years ago. The Mammoth Mountain stop is especially notable from both the Freeskiing and Snowboarding worlds; it has received the honorable inclusion of FIS World Cup (for Freeskiing), TTR 5Star rating (Snowboarding) and AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) platinum level status. This unique event is the only one in existence to receive such a high-level status from so many organizations. Grand Prix has played an integral part in Snowboarding qualification in past years. As a result of Shorr’s performance she was able to secure a position on the US Jr. World’s team.
Karly was invited to represent USA at the 2012 USSA FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships to be held this year in Spain. Shorr placed 3rd last year and was amongst the top finishers for the USA and the world at the 2011 Jr World Championships held in Italy.
Karly is a member of a select group of US athletes invited to train with the US National (Olympic) coaches called Project Gold. This group of freestyle snowboarders is making their way to become future national USA team athletes. Karly has been a part of Project Gold team for the past three years and will likely train for her 4th summer with this amazing group of freestyle snowboarders. Karly is also ranked 34th in the TTR World Woman’s Snowboard Slopestyle standings. She is amongst the top freestyle female snowboarders in the world. She is ranked 8th in the USA for Slopestyle on the TTR. The TTR is structured so that riders on all levels, from amateurs on up to professionals, can compete on the same global tour. All riders are also ranked on the same TTR World Ranking list currently comprised of over 3500 riders. The TTR is the world wide ranking system that ranks riders according to their overall performance against the other freestyle slopestyle riders in the world and our nation.
Karly is a senior at Milford High School and will graduate this year with her class of 2012! Milford High School has been a great support in her quest allowing her to pursue her dream of becoming a Pro athlete in the world of freestyle snowboarding. She has managed her academics with a 3.12 gpa.
