Hyperlite Wakeboards: Strata Mounting System

strata

Wakeboarding has come a long way in the past few years. Closed toe boots with Boa, butter boards for rails and jibbing, carbon stringers for added pop and the list goes on and on. This Year Hyperlite stepped things up again and is offering two of their top model boards (Marek Nova, Murray Nova) with the Strata Mounting System.  The Strata System is very similar to Burton Snowboards Channel System in that it gives you unlimited stance options, and on the fly adjustments without having to take the boot off the board. This is by no doubt the ultimate in rider to board to water feeling out there in the industry to date.

Gear Review: Electric EG2 Goggles

SethEG2web

I ended up trying on the Electric EG2 goggles because they happened to be sitting in Paul’s office (The House photographer and fellow blogger) I had been looking for goggles for some time and I eventually came to the conclusion I wanted Electric goggles, but I wasn’t for sure which ones until I put these babies on. Kevin Jones is filming a two year project with Standard Films

kevinjones

I started a little discussion here at the shop….. Where are some of those riders that we knew so well growing up? The ones that influenced us ? Where are they now? Got me thinking “Where did Kevin Jones go”?  So I did a little research. Found a great article at ESPN Snowboarding. After a short leave Kevin Jones is back in action.  I love his attitude for the sport! Kevin is on his own, no sponsors, riding in Alaska, Filming for Standard Films for 2 years. He gets it! So should we! All I can say is WELCOME BACK KEVIN!!!

Throwback Thursdays: Ali Goulet 1994 Lake Tahoe

Lindsey Vonn: If it wasn't provocative before it is now

Just a few days ago Lindsey Vonn was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in her ski suit and some people said that was “suggestive”. (see post below) Well, if you disagreed with that before, you have nothing to disagree with this time. Lindsey did a shoot for the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit issue. Hanna Teter also makes quite an appearance in this issue.

Little bit of Olympic History

Ross

I was doing some research for another article when I stumbled on to a CNN page from 1998 just after the Nagano Olympics. I thought it was so funny and interesting the headlines they had for their stories. It really just goes to show you snowboarding’s true progress over these few short years: Read More

Eric Willett Stomping at Breckenridge

Wouldn’t it be great if your average run through the park looked a little more like this:

Bangers at Breck from Zak Shelhamer on Vimeo.

But I guess we can’t all be as amazing as Erik Willett

X-Games

This past weekend I was lucky enough that my mom planned our family vacation the same time as  X-Games. If you have never been to X-Games you should go. Being out there it’s like Spring Break. I couldn’t believe how many people were there.

DSC00523

On Friday night Men’s Half Pipe Finals ESPN reported that there were about 35,000 people out there.  Here are some pictures that I took during the day and night events.

Kaitlyn Farrington Takes Home the Dew Cup

dew

kaitpodium

Kaitlyn Farrington has been owning the Dew Tour this season and when she took first in the halfpipe at the last stop in West Dover, Vermont she also earned herself the Dew Cup. At the very first Dew stop in Breckenridge Kaitlyn landed in 6th place and at the Snowbasin stop she climbed the ranks to 2nd. Now she has topped the list and proved to be the best over all. Congratulations Kaitlyn!

Brennen Swanson gets Second in Dew Tour Halfpipe

westdover

The Dew Tour for 09/10 is said and done, but the last stop in West Dover, Vermont was quite the spectacle. The House team rider, Brennen Swanson, threw all his cards in as he put down a run that would land him a second place on the podium. Not only was Brennen the only one that threw double corks at West Dover he threw two in his run that were clean as they could be. Awesome job Brennen, Congratulations!

Lindsey Vonn on the Cover of Sports Illustrated… It's Provocative?

provocative

I was checking my email on Yahoo when I ran across this story about the ever talented Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn. (Article) It appears she made the cover of Sports Illustrated, which only 4% of the covers have featured women over 60 years. This would be an amazing achievement for Lindsey but WomenTalkSports.com is suggesting that she is in a “sexualized pose”. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but to me that just seems like a regular old skiers tuck, nothing sexual or suggestive about it. Rather, it does seem to me that WomenTalkSports.com is maybe a little biased against Sports Illustrated. I’m not taking sides with either Sports Illustrated or against WomenTalkSports.com ( I’m all about supporting women’s athletics),  I’m just saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with that cover shot and everybody should stop steeling Lindsey’s thunder.

Greg Bretz and Elena Hight, Probably the cutest story ever

I had to laugh when I read this little snippet on Grind TV. I had to share it with you guys. It’s probably the cutest darn little story I’ve ever read… awwwww

Greg-and-Elena

Direct from Grind TV:

Elena Hight and Greg Bretz have a lot in common. Hight, 20, and Bretz, 19, are the two youngest members of the Olympic halfpipe team, and they were the final two riders to qualify in their respective fields for the trip to Vancouver. Not surprisingly, they’re both considered huge underdogs as well.

Apparently, there’s even more to this bond. Yes, the two youngest riders on the Olympic Halfpipe team are officially a couple. And on the surface they certainly seem to be lifting each other’s game. They both performed well during the high-stress season of qualifying. If they can handle that they should be fine taking on the world.

Gear Review: Skullcandy Ti Headphones

Tokidokispecs

I recently bought the Skullcandy Ti Tokidoki headphones so I could watch snowboard videos at the office and not disturb everyone around me. When I was looking at getting a pair of headphones I didn’t really know what I was looking for or what all the specs meant and I ended up getting the Tokidokis because of their style. I didn’t realize till after what a great buy they actually were… Read More
