This weeks lucky winner is Tristen from Oregon House, California receiving a whole slew of dvd’s. Ten of them in fact, in all sports board such as snow, wake, skate and surf. Keep checking back every Friday to see if your the next lucky winner.
We’ve probably all received this acronym on our phones at some point within the last decade. It could be the most annoying of all text vernacular; OMG!
Most people would probably agree that it stands for “Oh My God/Gosh”. I was on this train too, until I recently saw an episode of Gangland on the History Channel where I was enlightened that OMG officially stands for “Outlaw Motorcycle Gang” in the law enforcement world. Then I got to thinking about all the different people and places I’ve seen/heard this and wondered; Is Shawn Watson actually a two-wheelin’ merchant of destruction as well as board-wielding purveyor of sickness?
I’m sticking with my new perspective as I find it much more entertaining than the thought of language being reduced to how it sounds in Idiocracy. So grab yourself a 2010 Watson Hybrid wakeboard and start popping Outstanding Mute Grab’s Over Mom’s Garage On Monday’s Grind! Or, better yet, come up with your own!
We haven’t had snow around here in Minnesota for a few months now and for most of us that means we’re simply dying of anticipation to get into the water. But unless you have a wicked awesome wet suit the water isn’t quite ready for our bare skinned bodies to go plunging in… or is it? I got word that little miss Jenny Vogel, here at The House, and some of her friends braved the conditions on this past sunny Saturday and dove in head first for some frigid wakeboarding, wetsuits not included. I wanted to know how it went.
So Jenny, could you breathe at all once you hit the water?
Haha yes, but I really owe that to my practices in meditative breathing more than anything. Actually, throughout the day there were moments of toe-testing the water that prepped me. At one point there was talk of a water volleyball game but with nobody wanting to dive after the ball the game wouldn’t go too far…
Where did you go?
Lake Elmo.. not even sure what city that is so I’ll just say Elmo, MN/borderline Wee-scown-sin
Who all went with you?
My bf-bff Alex, Sean, Sheena, Kim and Marky-Mark- on his Tige- its a beautiful beast!
Did you last very long in the Arctic waters?
3 pulls. But it was more due to the fact my muscles were poopin out more than anything.
What would you guess the temp of the water was?
Low 60s? Not too bad, I’ve been watching it climb over the last couple weeks- our buddies were out since April 1st (just after ice broke!) and haven’t worn a wetsuit for the past couple weeks. Matter of fact, I had my wetsuit going out the door when Alex told me that- I wasn’t about to be lookin like a fool with my pants on the ground…Or wetsuit on my legs I mean…
Is this the earliest you’ve ever gotten out?
No, I used to go on the Colorado River in April, but that’s in Arizona and I still wore a shorty.
You know places like California and Colorado are still getting dumped on right now right?
Yes, don’t remind me. But you know in a matter of weeks we’ll be haulin in some snow for summer-night sessions at the Miller compound. Can’t keep snow away from us!
Did you get some sweet glass?
Around sunset it was uber buttery out, so beautiful!
I bet there wasn’t too many people out to chop up your wake.
No not at all, fishing opener was this weekend so it was more or less just people sitting by the cattails droppin a line. But there always seem to be “that one guy” shakin things up….
Did you throw a massive back flip over a monster double up?
Yes. I did and it was huge! The back flip was underwater so does that count?
How’s your body feeling today after your first day out?
Yikes. Like jello …but it’s all totally worth it!!
Since we’re on the topic of water today I thought I would also share with you what the shop boys just shared with me. Steven Colbert is one of the funniest men alive.

Here’s to a mom that supports what we do
Here’s to a mom that knows what all we’ve been through
Here’s to a mom that is patient and kind
Here’s to a mom that’s there when we take a bad digger and almost go blind
Here’s to a mom that cared for us when we were small
Here’s to a mom that loves us even though we think it’s a good idea to try and ride our boards on a wall
Here’s to a mom that lovingly scolded us, hand on her hip
Here’s to a mom that worries for us when we’re packed in a car on a road trip
Here’s to a mom that offered us reassurance and comfort
Here’s to a mom that is the first thought that goes through our head if we’re about to do something where we could get hurt
Here’s to a mom that told us there was nothing in the dark to fret
Here’s to a mom that taught us confidence that we would later need to gap down a 20 step stair set
Here’s to a mom that bundled us up head to toe, making sure nothing froze
Here’s to a mom that hopefully won’t see us when we’re high in the air rolling down the windows
Here’s to a mom that told us to be careful while you play
Here’s to a mom that will still come to support us even though it may turn her hair gray
Here’s to a mom that picked us up so we could reach the drinking fountain
Here’s to a mom that helped us realize we can take down a mountain
We know we put you through a lot mom, but thanks for loving us any way.
Thanks and Love you Moms everywhere! Happy Mother’s Day!

Bindings are a very important piece of equipment when finding the optimal wakeboarding gear. Not having the correct bindings could ruin a perfect day on the lake by making the ride very uncomfortable and frustrating. It is vital that when looking to buy bindings to find the right fit, style, and functionality that is conducive to a wakeboarder’s level of skills and works with their board of choice. There are a variety of different binding options on the market that will provide the best possible set-up for any person looking to shred up the water. Read More
If you’re looking for a new wakeboard this year you should take a look at one of our best sellers here at The House, the Liquid Force Watson Hybrid. The reason this board is so popular is because it is a good fit for a wide range of riders. It will be forgiving to a beginner but it will still rip at a level worthy of Shawn Watson.

So you want to get your first wakeboard boat? There are many options available to you that wont break the bank and give you the same great ride you are looking for in a 50k-60k boat. First things first, unless you don’t want to spend a ton of money on a newer boat, consider looking for something a little older. Boats from 1995 and older if maintained and well taken care of will do you just fine. Here’s a few tips that will help you better determine what’s right for you.
