TransWorld Wakeboarding

TransWorld WAKEBOARDING Launch!

TransWorld WAKEBOARDING Launch!

For years now, geeks and nerds have been proclaiming the end of print as we move into a digital age of blogs and iPads. Lucky for lovers of the tangible–TransWorld Media is moving in the opposite direction and usurping Wakeboarding magazine as their own.

The publication, which was already owned by TW’s parent company Bonnier will henceforth be known as TransWorld Wakeboarding. To celebrate the new addition to the family, cruise on down to the Surf Expo this Thursday for the premiere issue launch party.

The Surf Expo takes place at the Orlando Watersports Complex and the TransWorld event goes from 6pm-10pm. We’re sure that the TW guys will show you good times and good editorial work, as they do in all their publications. Just think of the possibilities that they’re bringing to the table. Team Challenge of Wake and expanded how-tos are all likely to be on the horizon, and how pumped would you be for the idea of Wake and Create! Not to mention TransWorld’s uncanny ability to put together rad new teams every skate and snow season to put out their always-legit videos. Head on down to the party and you have our permission to claim the idea as your own.

Wakeboarding is so hot right now that The House is even going to hook you up with a huge deal. Buy a wakeboard, get a free set of headphones or sunglasses! Check out the Wake shop for all the details and the biggest selection of fresh decks!

Wake Nation in Houston is Coming

The Clubhouse at Wake Nation Cincinnati

The Clubhouse at Wake Nation Cincinnati

Texas is known for steers and beers, mostly, but come 2011 they could start getting themselves in some conversations that don’t revolve around bulls and brews. Next Spring, Houston will be home to a shiny, new wakeboard park called Wake Nation, Houston.

Peter Kennedy, the man bringing the waves to the prairie, also opened a Wake Nation site in Cincinnati during the Spring of 2009 that has received solid reviews from everyone except boat manufacturers. The guys who used to cash in on the necessity of a boat for wakeboarding can’t be too happy about being left out of the equation, but we’re all happy because it makes wakeboarding more accessible to a larger audience, thus growing the sport.

Jumps, rails, and slider boxes will dot the lake underneath a cable system that’ll take riders around at 18-20 MPH. Wakers will “pay as they play,” much like the way you would pay for a couple-hour session at a skatepark. Waterskis and kneeboards will also be allowed.

You know what this means Texas…get yourself wet and learn some new tricks so you can show off when this thing opens up and the industry heads start rolling through. They’ll have plenty of room to scout your talents in the panoramic bleachers that are free to get in to. For the rest of you outside of Texas, start making road trip plans to Rosharon, just outside of Houston for the Spring, and as always, get out the deals at The House for all your gear needs.

10,000 Wakes in MN!

TLE1

Wakeboarding in Minnesota just got even more epic with the opening of the brand new wake park in New Germany, MN called 10K Wakes. Places like this make wakeboarding so hassle free and wonderful I’m surprised there isn’t one on every street corner. Coming to a place like 10k Wakes means you get the water all to yourself. You’re not gonna have some guy fishing in the middle of the best glass on the lake and will ensure that you don’t get some armature pulling you around in choppy waves, going the wrong speed and straight up driving the boat like a fool.

TLE22

10k Wakes has been designed for riders of all levels. Their 2.0 cable is now open, but they also have their own boats (that are the only ones allowed on the water) driven by people who know what their doing to toe the riders around. Wakeboarding is probably the biggest attraction to this wake park but you can also wakeskate, wake surf, slalom, kneeboard or use none of the above and go barefoot. They are an official Liquid Force Test Center and you have a pretty good chance to see some world champions and local pros cruising around doin what they do.

TLE2

Their website said:

Our mission is to provide you with the most epic wake park, water conditions and coaching around. We offer day camps, private lessons, open riding and group parties. Our location is 10 minutes west of Lake Minnetonka in New Germany at Trophy Lake Estates. (Next to the Malibu Service Center) TLE consists of 2 private lakes and cable pond with a 2.0 overhead cable system which has been hailed by coaches and riders as the future of wakeboarding. Our boats are the only ones on the water and our kickers and sliders will accommodate every rider whether it’s your first time out or you’re riding PRO.

TLE3

They have all kinds of information to answer about every question on their website, but should you conjure something up give ‘em a call, I’m sure they would love to hear from you. You can bet your pretty little head I’ll be out there testing out the new facilities, so we’ll you out there!
