Arielle Gold Wins Jr. World Snowboard Championships

Here’s a news flash for you…Arielle Gold of Steamboat Spring, CO just won the Women’s Jr. World Snowboard Halfpipe Championship Title at Sierra Nevada, Spain.  Following close behind was none other than Algonquin, IL’s own Kirby Kelly in 6th place.  Overall something tells me the whole 2012 USSA Junior Worlds Snowboard Team did great!

Those silly Spaniards can’t figure out how to update results on their website so we’re stuck only knowing 1st and 6th place.  Awesome job girls, way to kill it!  USA! USA! USA!

Off The Grid – Davis Torgerson

As an avid skateboarder I can understand the frustrations of skating the same spots day in and day out.  Yes, skating will always be a fun way to express yourself creatively, but when you’ve done every trick on the same down rail, stair set, or bowl it can feel too routine.  I’m going to take the same approach to choosing a new skate spot like Davis Torgerson did; by throwing a dart at an over sized map, not of Southern California, but of Minneapolis.  Step number 1: find an oversized map of Minneapolis.  Step number 2: pray to God that it doesn’t land on North Minneapolis.  Wish me luck.

Clair Bidez – Celebrity Doppleganger

It’s pretty had to tell the difference between the two beauties above. On the left is Dianna Agron who plays Quinn Fabray on the cast of Glee. On the right is Clair Bidez a professional snowboarder.

I don’t much about Dianna Agron besides the fact that she’s really hot.  On the other hand I do know a little about Clair Bidez.  Clair has her set of belt notches from various Grand Prix podiums, FIS World Cup top tens, and multiple Jr. World Champion podiums – one being 1st.  Oh, and her younger brother Dylan will Front 12 your head off if you ask about Clair’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit shoot.

2012 Volcom PBRJ – Powder Ridge

If you’ve never gone to a Volcom PBRJ contest, you should.  Powder Ridge Ski Resort in Kimball, MN has been hosting the Volcom PBRJ comp for about 100 years, and every year the level of technical tricks and over-stokedness sky rockets.

The groms Benny Milam, Noah Fleming, and Garrett McKenzie absolutely murdered it.  Vanessa Moore came out on top of the women’s field.  Mitch Kirby came halfway across the county to grab second in the open division, and Colin Wilson turned into a wrecking ball and destroyed the competition.

Itasca in Coleraine, MN.  This wonder, yet small, resorts his light years away from modern civilization but has everything any jib kid could dream of.  The local kids rip and the riders who chose to travel hundreds of miles for the comp had a blast.
