New Banana Board

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on an super old school deck.  Sure I have a wide cruiser – but a Banana Board?

Legendary Lance Mountain is fully backing the 70′s toys and ramming them into the forefront of skateboarding’s fun mentality.

Stereo recently released the Vinyl Cruiser, and everyone at the shop loves it!  Once you get over the vintage feel of the ride you’ll be hanging ten in no time.

Enjoyable Skate Edit

Sit back, turn your headphones up and watch some slow-mo skateboarding.

Torey Pudwill’s Big Bang

PLAN B Skateboards Presents Torey Pudwill’s Big Bang.  This is some of the freshest skating I have seen in a hot minuet!  Torey A.K.A. T-Puds orders up some Big Mac Bangers and upgrades to the super-sized, double deluxe, everything on it, extra pickles with a gallon of special sauce on the side version!  Besides dropping hammers, Torey also runs Grizzly Grip Tape Company  which He started when he was 12 years old!  Torey also has his new signature shoe with DVS, The Torey 2′s which are skate approved with tons of classic styling and a hint of mint to keep things fresh.

Anyway’s sit back relax and grab a friend, to come help put your eyeballs back into your head after they fall out from watching this 6 minuets and 42 seconds of “OH MY DEAR LORD”.

Zoo York: Chad Ortiz

This vid is for everyone.  It’s for the groms who need inspiration.  It’s for the guys who backed out and are now falling back into skating.  It’s for your Mom.  It’s for America.

Redbull: Bomb The Line Skate Contest

We can thank Redbull for this one, and probably the next 50 or so great contests.  I’d skate this over any Street League course.

Skeleton Crew

The Bonfire Skeleton Crew always does it right.

Salomon/Bonfire Team Manager Java Fernandez got all the boys together for a fun week in in beautiful Oregon.  If you ever see a massive group of guys bro’ing down at Cobra Dogs, it’s probably the Skeleton Crew.

Featuring: Jed Anderson & Louif Paradis  - With friends: Java Fernandez, Jake Kuzyk, Ben Biloc, Alex Lopez, Tanner McCarty, Jake OE, Tim Eddy, Joe Carlino, Justin Meyer, Marz Meyer, Mark Dangler, Riley Erickson, and Phil Jacques

Monster Children Magazine- Team Average

At 2pm on a rainy Thursday in March we loaded Kevin Terpening, Dylan Rieder, Sammy Winter, Dane Reynolds, Austyn Gillette, Warren Smith and Craig Anderson into a pair of Hyundai Bongo Vans and drove them up the east coast of Australia. One thousand clicks were covered and what could be skated and surfed, was skated and surfed by everyone. The team camped in Forster, Taree and Crescent Head. The Yamba Pub was trashed and Warren coined the term 'skurf.' It was good. This is the result put together by our good friends at Marine Layer.

Rise Above- Skateboarder Buddy Elias

The RideChannel presents the “Rise Above” video series, showcasing individuals who have overcome some of  life’s biggest obstacles. This episode of “Rise Above”  features Skateboarder Buddy Elias who lost his leg due to a rare disease know as Buerger’s Disease.

Buerger’s disease (thromboangiitis obliterans) is a rare disease where your blood vessels become inflamed, swell and can become blocked with blood clots (thrombi). This eventually damages or destroys tissues and can lead to infection and gangrene.

Buerger’s disease usually first shows in the hands and feet and may eventually affect larger areas of your arms and legs. Virtually everyone diagnosed with Buerger’s disease smokes cigarettes or uses other forms of tobacco, such as chewing tobacco. Quitting all forms of tobacco is the only way to stop Buerger’s disease. For those who don’t quit, amputation of all or part of a limb may be necessary.

Omar Hassan’s Concrete Jihad

Omar Hassan paying his dues.

Omar Hassan is hands down one of the top bowl skaters in the world. All you have to do is watch the first 10 seconds of this video to prove it. He has been paying dues for well over 30 years and like a fine wine, Hassan seems to just get better with age. In this new little bit of hotness, dropped onto the inter-webs by Thrasher Magazine, the creators chose a title for the video that some might consider controversial, strange, offensive or just weird in our western culture. “Omar Hassan’s Concrete Jihad”.

So what does Jihad Mean? It conjures many things to different people & cultures because the term has many possible applications. But the literal translation of the Arabic word Jihad means “Exerted Effort”. The term itself at its core relates to personal struggle and inner conflict within one’s Soul, much like “Ying and Yang”.

So with the Summer Olympics coming up in London, let’s all take a page out of Omar’s book and exert effort to self-reflect in order to realize just how similar all of Humanity is to one another. Exert effort to seek out what makes us the same and focus less on our differences. Like one guy said, sometime, somewhere, “There are only two things I hate in this world. 1: People who are intolerant to other peoples’ cultures. And 2: The God Damn Dutch.”

Woodward Tahoe

Woodward at Tahoe Opens

Woodward Tahoe opened it’s doors this weekend.  Various pro athletes including Mike Vallely, Todd Richards, Zac Hale, Hannah Teter, Tanner Hall and Tony Hawk pumped the local crowd up – the ceremony was nothing but grand.

Why is the new Woodward called Woodward Tahoe?  Clearly the 33k sq. ft. Bunker is located in the parking lot of Boreal Mountain.  The Woodward at Copper is named Woodward at Copper for one main reason – it’s located at Copper Mountain.  Anyway…sitting on top of lovely Donner Pass is Boreal Mountain, home of the nation’s oldest ski and snowboard club, Auburn Ski & Snowboard Club.  Sitting in the parking lot of Boreal is Woodward Tahoe.
