This Summer, Join the G-team for a summer Cross Training and Get Ready For Next Season.
At the end of winter we are all sad to pack up our snowboards and skis as the weather gets warmer and summer approaches. What is a board sports athlete to do during the summer months to keep their board skills sharp like your core, balance and muscle movements? Every rider wants to get back on the snow again stronger than the season before with a new bag of tricks to through down. The G Team thinks summer is the best time to improve and learn new skills. Just like other professional athletes who cross train during the off season, The G Team offers training programs for board sports athletes like trampoline to help riders progress even when the snow if gone.
Trampoline Training- Helps to strengthen core muscles and improve body awareness will spinning and flipping. Learning skills on a trampoline first is the safest and most successful way to then bring skills to snow.
Skateboard Training –Movements athletes use in skateboarding like dropping in, balancing and weight distribution are all used while on a snowboard.
Wakeboarding – Think of the wake of the boat as a your kicker on the hill, many of the same principals that wakeboarders use to land tricks are the same as snowboarders.
If you have ever tried Paddle Boarding you know it is a great workout, but a new trend in Stand Up Paddle Boarding is taking your workout to a new level. SUP Yoga is basically as it sounds, a yoga routine performed on a paddle board. The SUP is your mat and the open water is your studio.
Like Stand Up Paddle Boarding, SUP Yoga has been gaining in popularly over the last few years. I recently had my first encounter with SUP Yoga, and let me tell you it is real a game changer. At first performing even the most basic of posture on a SUP can be challenge. The instability of the board adds a new level into your yoga practice, It will tone your core, increase your stability and provide you with a fun learning environment out side of the studio. I would highly recommend taking your practice to the open water to see if SUP Yoga is for you.
SUP YOGA TIPS:
Besides your swimming suit it is a good idea to ware a rashguard, hat and/or sunglasses (with a strap) to protect your self from harmful UV rays.
Get Hydrated- Before departing sure make sure drink plenty water. Carrying anything on a board can be difficult.
Bigger is better- Longer and wider Stand Up Paddle Boards are more stable, which is perfect for SUP Yoga.

Mogul freestyle skiing World Cup Champion Mikael Kingsbury, organized a group of 30 freestyle skiers to attempt what just might be a record setting back flip attempt while holding hands. Back in the 1970, 19 skiers set the world record at Mont St Sauveur in Quebec, Canada. Nearly 43 years later Mont St Sauverur would once again be the home for the hand in hand black flip world record. Mont St Sauyer allowed Mikeal to close a run and build a jump wide enough for for all 30 skiers. After two hours of practice and two attempts this rag tag bunch of skiers were able stomp a 30 person hand and hand back flip! Sadly the Guinness Book of World Records was unable to attend, so you wont be seeing this in the 2013 edition of the Guinness book of World Records.
Skipp to 4:26 second to watch the backflip

Mr Bernache said: “On the first try, the line broke, because we had problems with the angle of the slope that was steeper on one side than the other, so some people did not have the same speed.
“On the second try, everyone landed and the line didn’t break, everybody landed hand in hand.
“We were pretty stoked, I don’t think anybody really expected it to work that well.”
